The horses showed symptoms like depression, fever that could not be cured by giving antibiotics and NSAIDs, ventral edema, stiff gait, painful neck region as well as respiratory symptoms. Laboratory investigations and ultrasound together with the histopathological examination of an adipose tissue biopsy were used to make the diagnosis. A supplementation of Vitamin E and selenium was used as therapeutic approach.
