Summary
This case report describes a 15-year-old dachshund presented to the veterinarian due to choking, head shaking and coughing. Examination of the oral cavity under anesthesia revealed a mass at the left tonsil. A complete surgical resection of the mass was achieved. The histological diagnosis was lymphangiomatous polyp originating from the tonsil. This entity is a benign lesion with no risk of recurrence and no metastatic potential. Although a rare lesion, lymphangiomatous polyps should be considered as potential cause of masses at the tonsils of dogs.
