Summary
A nine-year-old intact male Golden Retriever was presented to its veterinarian because of diarrhoea. During palpation, an amorphous mass was found in the caudal abdomen and the veterinarian referred the dog to our clinic for further clarification. A radiographic investigation revealed the presence of a round-oval structure with a mineralised shell. In addition, focal mineralised lesions were visible cranial to the prostate. Using ultrasound, it was found that a tissue bridge connected the abdominal structure with the prostate, whose tissue was interspersed with cysts. Furthermore, two testicular tumours were found. During the following laparotomy, the abdominal mass was detached from the prostate and removed as a whole. It contained yellowish flocculent fluid. The diagnosis of a calcified paraprostatic cyst and chronic prostatitis was made by means of diagnostic imaging and histopathological examination. The testicular tumours were classified histopathologically as Leydig cell tumours.
