Zusammenfassung

Vor dem Hintergrund der Umsetzung des routinemäßigen Kupierverbotes in der deutschen Schweineproduktion gewinnen konventionell-alternative Tierhaltungsformen immer mehr an Bedeutung. Die Verhinderung von Schwanzbeißen spielt bei nicht kupierten Schweinen eine zentrale Rolle. Dieser Fallbericht beschreibt den Umbau eines Stallabteils zur Großgruppenhaltung von Schweinen mit nicht kupiertem Schwanz sowie erste Erfahrungen mit dem System. Es handelt sich um einen konventionellen Schweinemastbetrieb in Niedersachsen mit ca. 600 Mastplätzen. Die Kernidee war eine strukturierte Großbucht mit einem Tiefstreu- Liegebereich und einem Spaltenbereich mit Tränken, Futterautomaten und Beschäftigungsmaterial. Bauliche Maßnahmen zur Minimierung des Stroheintrags in das Güllesystem wurden umgesetzt. Im Weiteren werden sowohl Vorteile als auch Nachteile des Haltungssystems analysiert. Schwanzbeißen kam in dem umgebauten Abteil während des Beobachtungszeitraumes nur in wenigen Einzelfällen vor.

Summary

Against the background of the prohibition of the routine tail docking in German pig production, conventional-alternative animal production systems are getting more and more of interest. In the case of ringtail housing, the prevention of tail biting is one of the most fundamental aspect. This case report deals with the reconstruction of one department for keeping a large group of pigs with undocked tails and the first experiences with this system. It describes a conventional fattening unit in Lower Saxony with roundabout 600 places. The reconstructions focused on a structured large group pen with a deep straw area and a slatted floor area with drinkers, feeders and manipulable material. Building alterations for the minimization of bringing straw in the slurry system were implemented. Hereafter, advantages and disadvantages of this housing system were compared and analyzed. Tail-biting did appear only in a very few pigs in the rebuilt compartment during the observation period.
